Braids of any form have been THE official protective style and major black girl magic look for the longest time so the moment I saw the Alissa Ashley’s symmetric box braids installed by Dr. Kari Williams, I knew it was a game-changer and I had to get them done. Over the past three months, I have installed this style twice using different color blends and I totally love it!
I love it so much that I’m thinking of making it my signature braid look. I totally think everyone should try this style because
1. THEY ARE TRENDY
Braids of any form have been THE official major black girl magic look for the longest time but this summer, symmetric box braids became the Hot Girl Summer signature look in probably every city around the world with black girls in it. Though summer is over, it seems like these braids are here to stay because frankly, they are more functional and stylish than regular box braids.
2. THEY CAN BE SUPER LIGHT
Because of the sleek look that symmetric braids give, you are likely to use less kanekalon hair than you would normally use for box braids. For this look, I used 2 packs of Expression super braids. Regardless of how I style them- whether knotted in a top bun or having them loosely rub on my bra line, they always feel as light as air.
3. THEY LAST LONGER
Knotless or not, these braids last longer primarily because of the size. Also, these braids put less tension on your edges because they loosen up quickly when installed properly. Your baby hairs do not get to suffer from this style because of how lightweight the hair is.
4. THEY ARE EASY TO STYLE
The symmetry alone is a style on its own. It does not matter if you are picky about the parting. whichever way you like your braids – center-part, side-part, c-part, or no part at all, this style is ALL IN ONE package deal! These braids lay flat even when you do not install them using the knotless method.
